Our church building remains closed for many purposes. Please refer to the Notices page for details of when things will resume. Below gives a flavour of what went on for children and young people before restrictions were imposed due to Covid-19.
For the past few years there has been a children’s holiday club for three days over the summer holidays run by the Wylam and District Churches youth worker and volunteers. This includes games, crafts, activities, bible stories, and learning more about Jesus in an age appropriate way. Lots of fun is had by all, and not just by the children!
Pictures below are from the 2017 holiday club (held in the Methodist church hall), where the theme was Pirates and ‘Landlubbers’.
Junior Youth Church
This is for children from nursery age to Year 5 each Sunday morning from 10.45 to 11.45 am during term times (except the third Sunday of the month when the whole church family worships together). The activities include worship and learning for the youngest members of the church family. We aim to provide a varied programme including crafts, games, and activities both indoors and out.
Something on a Sunday
This is for young people from Year 6 upwards held monthly on a Sunday morning from 10.45 to 11.45 am. It is a different way to do church for young people – games, food, and conversation. Come on your own, or bring a friend.
Messy Church is an event for young children and their parents or carers, which meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 4.00 to 5.30 pm.
With games, stories, songs, lots of crafts (some which are messy), and lots and lots of fun we explore bible stories and the stories of bible people.
Messy Church also includes a light meal for the children and tea or coffee for the adults. A donation of £1.00 per child is suggested to cover the cost of the meal.
Soft play is well attended and takes place each week during term time for parents or carers and preschool children from birth. Sessions are held Monday mornings from 9.00 to 11.30 am and Thursday afternoons from 1.00 to 3.00 pm. There is a relaxed atmosphere, and all are welcome. Come and see your child enjoying a safe play area, make friends, and interact with other children. It is run by friendly volunteers who are always willing to help and answer any queries. (All helpers are DBS checked.) Each session costs £2.00 per child. Included in the cost is a juice drink and biscuit for children, and tea or coffee for adults.
The Hub is for children in years 4 and 5 and is held on the first and third Saturdays each month, from 5.00 to 6.30 pm. It is a club where we play games and take part in different activities with a tuck shop and food to share.
The Gathering is for young people from year 6 upwards and is held on the first and third Saturdays each month, from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. It is a youth group with games, activities, music, discussions, tuck shop, and pizza!
The Hub and The Gathering are organised by Ruth, the Wylam and District Churches youth worker – for more information contact Ruth on 07421 018976
